Bank of the Islands Announces “Celebrate Our Islands!” Program

Bank of the Islands President Robbie Roepstorff is honored to announce a month-long program for the bank’s island neighbors and customers – Celebrate Our Islands! Running through July, the program kicks off with patriotic gifts on July 3 and continues with daily trivia contests celebrating all the things that make our barrier island community so special. Providing correct answers for the island trivia questions qualifies players to participate in weekly drawings and a grand prize drawing on July 31.

“Throughout our first post-Ian season, everyone really enjoyed our Thankful Tuesday gatherings,” said Roepstorff. “As Independence Day approaches and our hurricane recovery continues, this is the perfect time to turn our attention to things that make us proud to be Americans, starting right here on Sanibel and Captiva.”

To mark the start of the Celebrate Our Islands! promotion, Bank of the Islands will be giving away full-sized American flags and flag lapel pins on Monday, July 3. Bank staffers will also be offering iced water, coffee and doughnuts and look forward to greeting customers and island neighbors. The kickoff will be held at the Bank’s Sanibel office from 9-noon, with giveaways available while supplies last.

To start the month-long Celebrate Our Islands! trivia contest, Bank of the Islands staffers will be collecting names of those who correctly answer the daily trivia questions. The first daily Celebrate Our Islands! trivia question is: “What year was the City of Sanibel incorporated?”

Stop by the Captiva and Sanibel offices every banking day in July to provide the correct answer and qualify for a weekly drawing. Every week in July, one lucky Celebrate Our Islands! winner will receive the newly released 2023-2024 Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp. Commonly known as the Duck Stamp, buying these beautiful collectibles helps protected areas such as Sanibel’s J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge as they conserve wetland habitats for waterfowl and other wildlife species.

On July 31st, a grand prize drawing will be held for all correct answer submissions. The grand prize winner will receive a two-night stay for two at one of the famed gulf front cottages at Captiva’s ‘Tween Waters Inn including dinner for two at its 5-star Old Captiva House.

The Bank of the Islands’ offices, including ATM operations, have both reopened after the hurricane. The Captiva office, located next to the Captiva Post Office at 14812 Captiva Drive, is open from 9am-2pm Monday-Friday, with a half-hour lunch closure at noon. The Bank’s Sanibel office is offering banking services from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday out of its temporary on-site operation on premise at 1699 Periwinkle Way at Casa Ybel Road. In addition, the Edison National Bank offices in Fort Myers at 13000 S. Cleveland Avenue and the River District office at 2105 First Street will continue to welcome all of the Bank’s island customers. The bank’s meeting spaces are also being offered to the islands’ non-profit organizations and houses of worship.
