Bank of the Islands Grand Prize Winner Announced

It’s official! Guy Tober is the grand prize winner in Bank of the Islands’ month-long “Celebrate Our Islands!” promotion. Throughout the month of July, the bank’s island neighbors and customers correctly answered daily trivia contests celebrating all the things that make our barrier island community so special.

The winners of the four weekly drawings received the newly released 2023-2024 Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp. Commonly known as the Duck Stamp, these beautiful collectibles help protected areas such as Sanibel’s J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge as they conserve wetland habitats for waterfowl and other wildlife species. Anyone wishing to support this work can buy the new Duck Stamp at the Refuge’s gift shop.

Now, Guy is the winner of the final drawing to choose the recipient of the Celebrate Our Islands! grand prize.

“We’re so happy for Guy and his wife Tina as the recipients of the grand prize,” said Bank of the Islands President Robbie Roepstorff. “In the ten months since the hurricane, we have tried to bring cheer to our fellow islanders with our Thankful Tuesday giveaways. Given that the dog days of summer have been a real scorcher over the last month, we wanted to up the ante while reminding ourselves of all the things that make Sanibel and Captiva such a special place.”

The Tobers have won a two-night stay for two in one of the famed gulf front cottages at Captiva’s ‘Tween Waters Inn including a $250 spending credit at its 5-star Old Captiva House.

“For us, ‘Tween Waters on Captiva is the epitome of a luxury island resort,” said Roepstorff. “We were happy to create a special getaway there, including a beach bag of goodies, for the Tobers to enjoy.”

The Bank of the Islands’ offices, including ATM operations, have both reopened after the hurricane. The Captiva office, located next to the Captiva Post Office at 14812 Captiva Drive, is open from 9am-2pm Monday-Friday, with a half-hour lunch closure at noon. The Bank’s Sanibel office is offering banking services from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday out of its temporary on-site operation on premise at 1699 Periwinkle Way at Casa Ybel Road. In addition, the Edison National Bank offices in Fort Myers at 13000 S. Cleveland Avenue and the River District office at 2105 First Street will continue to welcome all of the Bank’s island customers. The bank’s meeting spaces are also being offered to the islands’ non-profit organizations and houses of worship.
