Celebrating 15 Years of Support for Women Build
Edison National Bank/Bank of the Islands is honored to support organizations that strengthen the Southwest Florida community. For the past 15 years, that commitment has included consistent support for Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties and its Women Build initiative.
Since 2011, the Women Build initiative has engaged women in the effort to provide safe, affordable housing for families in need. The program helps female-headed households in Lee and Hendry Counties achieve homeownership, providing lasting stability and a foundation for brighter futures – a cause closely aligned with the bank’s values of service, stability and community empowerment.
Beyond financial contributions, the relationship-focused team from Edison National Bank/Bank of the Islands has participated in hands-on activities like wall-raising events and home builds. This involvement is a tangible expression of the bank’s commitment to leading by example, as well as investing both time and resources back into causes that matter most to the community.
Edison National Bank/Bank of the Islands recognizes the power of programs like Women Build to make a tangible, lasting difference. “It’s incredibly meaningful to be part of something that uplifts local families and contributes to long-term community resilience,” said President Robbie Roepstorff. “Our commitment to initiatives like Women Build reflects our belief that strong communities are built when we lift one another up. It’s about building relationships and making our neighborhood a better place for everyone.”
The need remains urgent. In 2024, 81% of Habitat’s future homeowners in Lee and Hendry Counties were female-led households. This statistic alone underscores the growing need for affordable housing solutions tailored to women and families striving for stability, security and a place to call their own.
As a long-term advocate and champion for its community, the bank remains deeply committed to giving back to Women Build and other worthy causes through service on nonprofit boards, hands-on volunteering and philanthropy.
Founded in 1997, Edison National Bank is Lee County’s oldest locally owned and managed community bank, serving individuals and business owners with offices in Fort Myers, as well as the Bank of the Islands offices on Sanibel and Captiva.
