Edison National Bankers Join in Read Across America

On March 1, 2019, Edison National Bankers joined a nationwide effort to transport young readers to “Seussville”. Marking the anniversary of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, Read Across America is an annual reading celebration.

Sponsored by the National Education Association, Read Across America involves thousands of schools, libraries and community centers using the occasion to encourage reading in kids and teens.

Here in Fort Myers, Edison National Bank was represented in the local efforts by Vice President, Lending Liz Aurensan and Concierge Janice Tingle. They read to children at Villas Elementary School.

“Supporting education is a sweet spot for the bank staff,” said Tingle, a former teacher. “Whether it’s Read Across America, Literacy Buddies, or other educational partnerships, these are great ways to show how much we care about the young students in our community.”

Edison National Bank is Lee County’s oldest locally owned and managed community bank, serving individuals and business owners with offices in Fort Myers, as well as the Bank of the Islands offices on Sanibel and Captiva. Founded in 1997, Edison National Bank is strongly rooted in the community and actively supports civic and charitable causes through both donations and volunteerism.
